Reflections: August
Let’s start with the reason I haven’t been blogging the past few days.

Oh and let’s not forget the real reason I haven’t been blogging…
This lovely lady finally arrived Friday morning, so we went into Hong Kong to meet Doris and her friend Tarifa (with whom we will will be going to India, for a wedding) for lunch at the Jockey Club.
We brought Doris back to Dongguan later in the afternoon, and gave her a tour of the neighborhood and had some drinks at One For The Road. She only stayed for one night, because she flew to Shanghai the next afternoon to meet Eric who was already there for a leather fair. They both will return on Thursday evening, and will stay with us until the middle of October! Bring on the amazing *desserts…
*Doris, you’re making those amazing desserts
I also am seriously addicted to puzzles! This is the last time I buy a package of 10 puzzles, I can’t stop…even worse more awesome? Doris brought a 1,000 piece New York Times front page puzzle! GAH….can’t wait to do that one. Hopefully I can get some help?
Here are a few of the puzzles i’ve been working on:

(Yes I’m a nerd and timed the above puzzle. What? It was a new time record for me!)
As a reward, I backed a carrot cake AND made homemade vanilla frosting…

Saturday night was Alona’s birthday party! (Alona’s holding the red wine glass next to me)
I realize I am a giant in this photo, but I just love being tall! I actually I’m not normally that tall, I just decided to wear some new 4+ inch heels I got about a week ago
We ate at this Peking Duck place just across the street from our complex. Talk about amazing eats!

Here’s my (late) reflection post for August!
GOALS: AUGUST
1. 11 races in 2011: Still no races…I’m changing my new goal to 6 races. There haven’t been any races offered in the past few months, so i’m going to try and sign up for a bunch in the next 4 months!
2. Run 1250 miles this year! August’s total was 122, making the total 828.8 miles. September is already off to a great start (21.7 miles), so I’m hoping to be well over my goal by the time January 2012 rolls around!
3. More “meditation” time: My meditation time has turned into reading at night time. It’s nice to be able to finish my day with a book in bed!
4. Weight lifting: August was a bad month for lifting. My schedule started to get busy and I wanted to reserve free time for running and puzzles
This month I’m going to try for 2 times a week, at least 30+ minutes per lifting session.
5. Drink more water: Still on track
6. Save money: August’s expenses were high, but mostly because we bought our tickets far in advance (for June 2012!) to save on flight costs. This month is Ezra’s birthday and his parents are in town, so we’re going to try our best to try and cook dinners at home!
7. Colorful foods: Check!8. Be more proactive about getting new clients/students: Got another training client.
9. Piano: Definitely practicing, and I’m putting together a Christmas recital program for my piano students!
10. German: Working to install Rosetta Stone on this computer so I can start studying!
11. Date night with Ez: We went to a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert in early August!
